5in5 Song #5 “I’m Running To You”

5in5 Song #5 “I’m Running To You”

I like this one, but I am just not sure what I did! I changed keys (well, I think I did) and I honestly can’t tell what is a verse, chorus, pre-chorus or bridge! Or if there is any of that! It might just be some musical rambling. Back in January I was waiting on a piano lesson to come and sat down to mess around on the piano. I am still not sure what possessed me to do this, but I decided to record it on my phone. This was the first time I remember having something on my heart to write! I had the chords of the song finished, I just had no words.

Some are taken from our pastor’s Easter sermon “He Emptied Himself” and the other is from Revelation 4:8-9

It kind of goes in a story form. In the beginning it is our actions, or thoughts. Admitting our sin/break from God. After that we are declaring what God is and what He thinks about us and did for us. The third section (Holy Holy Holy) is the meeting of God. Nothing can be said but Holy Holy Holy! After He answers our prayer and we see Him, we can thank Him, give him honor and praise. I guess I am telling you all of this because it really does have a flow and order! At least I think so.

Also…are your guys’ voices tired? I know I don’t get to sing like any of you do at all, but man, it’s tired today!

I’m Running To You (CLICK HERE TO HEAR!)

I’m running to You, I’m running to You

I want to see Your face, I want to know your grace

I’m running to You, I’m running to You

When I’ve gone to far, I turn my heart and there You are

I know you love me, I know You chose me as Your child

I know you emptied, to fill my heart and mind with Yourself

Come and fill me, come and show me (2x)

Holy Holy Holy, You are Lord Almighty!

Who was and is, and is, to come (2x)

We give You glory, We give you honor

We give You glory, We give you honor and thanks (2x)

Holy Holy Holy, You are Lord Almighty!

Who was, and is, and is to come! (2x)

Uh, yeah, midnight is definitely not when my voice is the strongest — haha!
I totally get your progression here, and this song made me really miss you, actually. I’m so proud of you for doing this; you are right — there are songs inside you! Write more! I love you, Friend!

Thanks Eleanor! I love you and miss you too. We are going to have to plan a time to see each other when you guys visit.

This is beautiful! I love your progression, and I like how the feel of the music changes when the song progresses. Also cool the way you take the melody up the second time on the “we give you glory” part. Love it! Do you have the writing bug now? : )

I DO have the bug! THANK YOU! You are partially my inspiration…a LONG time ago when you moved you had this great plan of writing one song a month. I was always so “in awe” of you for that decision. You sing so beautifully and write so well to bring us to the Father’s heart. All of you do. I can’t wait to see what else we come up with! It was odd tonight not sitting at the piano banging something out, but I am welcoming the sleep that is soon to come! I have been messing with one of the songs on Garage Band, though, since Jared and Molly showed it to me for the ipad!
