[5in5] Day 5: (b) I Can Never Be Moved

Words by Melissa Richter and James Powell

Verse 1
He opens wide the heavens
ceiling himself with dark rain clouds
jagged lightning rents sheets of rain as
the hope of heaven breaks through stormy day

Pre-Chorus
My life will join creation’s thunderous praise to the vaulted heavens

Chorus
For God has pulled me from the depths of the storm
He rescued me for his good pleasure
His faithful heart is for me;

Bridge:

I can never be moved

No, I’ll never be moved

Verse 2
He scattered every shadow
Piercing the night with his brilliance
The faithful sun burns away the darkness
As his anthem resonates in my hearth

[5in5] Day 5 (a) Dancin’ Fireflies

Dancin’ Fireflies

Verse 1:

Sitting here outside on this beautiful spring day

Watching time fly by as you dance and dream and play

I don’t know how to describe this feelin’ down inside

When you’re catchin’ dancin’ fireflies at night

Chorus:

Dancin’ fireflies dancin’ over me

Dancin’ fireflies show His majesty

May you ever see the freedom in their light

Fireflies, they praise the Lord at night

Verse 2:

Happy little boys runnin’ after me

Pickin’ pretty flowers and climbin’ up the tree

I don’t know how to describe this feelin’ down inside

When you’re catchin’ dancin’ fireflies at night

Verse 3:

I love your little eyes when you’ve found something new

I love the little smile when you put rocks in your shoe

I don’t know how to describe this feelin’ down inside

When you’re catchin’ dancin’ fireflies at night

[5in5] Day 4: Hope

I had a friend give me this jewelry box with the word “HOPE” designed into it and for some reason it just embodied everything I was praying for my oldest, who got in a bit of trouble recently.

Hope. Hope that he would be a man of character. Hope that he would know and choose right. Hope that he would become a man that seeks God with all of his heart. Hope that he would love how God rescued him. So…that old hymn ran over and over in my mind “My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus blood and righteousness” during this time. That little box of hope was my ray of light.

Then, he asked Jesus in his heart.

Hope exploded.

I can’t wait to see what God is going to do with you. Even in these short few weeks I have seen a change in you, and such a peace.

I am so glad for hope.

.

Hope (words by Edward Mote, 1797-1874)

Verse 1

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus blood and righteousness

I dare not trust the sweetest frame

But wholly trust in Jesus name

Verse 2

When darkness seems to hide His face

I rest on His unchanging grace

In every high and stormy gale

My anchor holds within the veil

Chorus

On Christ the solid rock I stand

All other ground is sinking sand

On Christ the solid rock I stand

All other ground is sinking sand

Bridge

My hope is built on

Nothing less than your blood

My hope is built on

Jesus name

Verse 3

His oath, His covenant, His blood

Support me in the whelming flood

When all around my soul gives way

He then is all my hope and stay

Verse 4

When He shall come with trumpet sound

Oh may I then in Him be found

Dressed in His righteousness alone

Faultless to stand before the throne

[5in5] Day 3: Do Not Fear

Most of the words have come from Isaiah 40-42. Loosely translated. Isaiah 41:10 is my favorite verse, and I wanted to write a song using it last year, but it never seemed to work. It did this time! My middle son deals with a lot of fear. I was hoping by writing this he can remember these verses a little better and sing it when he is afraid. This picture is a victory picture. We have gone to the dentist MANY times in his life but this was the first time they were able to do x-rays because of his fear. Noah, I can’t wait to hear you sing this song!

Do Not Fear

Verse 1

Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens

Who created all of these?

He who brings out the stars one by one

And calls to them by name

Verse 2

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

He is forever God

Creator of the ends of the earth

He won’t grow tired or weary

Verse 3

Be not dismayed, for I am your God

I will strengthen and help you

I will hold you up

I will strengthen and help you

Chorus

Child I’ve chosen you

So do not fear

I delight in you

For I am your God

Bridge

So do not fear, for I’m with you

I will hold you, with my right hand

[5in5] Day 2: 15

This one was fun. I experimented a bit with Garage Band. There’s some tweaking I would like to do but not tonight!

Daniel and I will be celebrating our 15th anniversary this June. I am blessed!

15

Verse 1
When we said I do
It was clear to me and you
We were in it for good

Lookin on it now
I really can’t see how
Life without you before

Verse 2
Now that we are here
We’ve made another year
I can see the mountains climbed

I can’t wait to see
What’s in store for you and me
With you by my side

Chorus
Not all roses but not all rocks
Not smooth sailing but we’re not lost
Nothing’s too fancy but that’s just fine with me
Give me more years with you
I’m as happy as can be

Bridge
15 years of caring, and growing and sharing the light
15 years of giving, and learning, and maybe a fight?
15 years forgiving, and laughing, and sharing this life
15 years of serving, and learning, and saying good night

[5in5] Day 1: The Veil

Our pastor recently preached a message that hit home with me. He doesn’t really beat around the bush with his preaching, so the message was quite clear. During this particular message he had us time the lights to slowly get dimmer and dimmer as he preached the message. No one noticed until the lights were at about 50% that it was darker in the room.It was a great illustration of how we let influences in our lives slip or compromise what we believe till it becomes a watered down shell of a belief.  We have nothing left for our children to believe because we have not shown them how to embrace truth. We have helped them embrace compromise.

One of my favorite quotes from him is, “What you accept, your children will embrace.” What do I allow in my life that my children will embrace when they are older? Slowly this veil or covering of “acceptance” or “tolerance” is covering the church. God has been challenging me to stand up and not accept things as normal that I don’t agree with. It’s a hard road we travel as a Christian, and times are getting even harder. God take the veil from my eyes.

THE VEIL

VERSE 1:

Lift the veil off  my eyes

That has come over me

Lift the veil off  my eyes

In my complacency

VERSE 2:

Lift the darkness from me

So that I can see

Lift the darkness from me

That has come, so subtly

CHORUS:

Lift the veil, so that I can see

What You want, what You need from me

To stand, to fight

To change and choose right

Lift the darkness so I can see

BRIDGE:

Shred the veil that covers my eyes

Shred my heart of this compromise

Shred the veil

Shred the veil

Shred the veil that covers my eyes

Take my heart of this compromise

Take the veil

Take the veil

Take my veil that covers my eyes

Take my heart of compromise

Take the veil

It’s that time again!

L

ast year I jumped off of a cliff.

What?

No really…I did something I had never done before. I put myself out there and LOVED it. Mostly.

I joined up in my worship leader’s project with some friends and started doing something. Creating something.

5 songs in 5 days.

And I am doing it again! Check back here for the next 5 days to see what craziness I have gotten myself mixed up in. Check here to listen to everyone else’s songs too!

Basically the point is to create.  It won’t be perfect, but it will be something. It will also help me with my One Word challenge: Discipline.

You can hear my last year’s entries here . You can also check out Dan’s blog from last year and hear everyone’s songs!
